Police Scotland has been accused of kicking an investigation into rogue neurosurgeon Sam Eljamel ‘down the road’ as protestors gathered in Dundee on Wednesday. The disgraced doctor is thought to have harmed around 200 patients on botched operations while working at Ninewells Hospital in the city between 1995 and 2013.

A chair for an inquiry into the scandal was only confirmed by the government in February after years of pressure from victims. Many of them also want to see criminal action taken against the medic, who is now practicing in Libya, as well as NHS Tayside.
