A surgeon suspended over concerns about his work will not face a tribunal after he removed himself from the medical register.

Professor Sam Eljamel is no longer employed by NHS Tayside following complaints by patients.

Many say they are victims of botched surgery and are upset he will not face disciplinary action by the General Medical Council (GMC).

The GMC allowed Professor Eljamel to remove himself from the medical register after ruling it was in the best interests of patients.
