A disgraced doctor was allowed to carry out more than 100 operations, putting patients at risk, rather than being suspended, a report has concluded.
NHS Tayside ignored warnings that Sam Eljamel was a “poor doctor” and put the surgeon under light-touch supervision after concerns were raised in 2011 about his conduct.
Eljamel botched dozens of operations and left patients with lifelong injuries while working in Dundee as a neurosurgeon between 1995 and 2013.
